Consultancy services for CGS Sementi srl as part of the Amigrano Project (Rural Development Programme, Emilia-Romagna Region)
Value Groovers is responsible for developing varieties of durum wheat with high nutritional value, characterised by a high amylose content. Activities included genetic analyses of the materials under evaluation, crossbreeding, and the management of breeding cycles in growth chambers and greenhouses to accelerate generational progress.
Consultancy for the University of Tuscia as part of the FILAFRU Project (Lazioinnova CSR projects)
Value Groovers has contributed to the development of traceability and certification models designed to guarantee the genetic integrity and product characteristics of foods produced from a bread wheat line with a high amylose content. The project developed standardised supply chain contracts agreed upon by the various stakeholders (production, processing and marketing), the utilisation of agronomic and analytical data throughout the supply chain, and supported the development of tools to monitor contractual compliance and the genetic conformity of products, thereby ensuring verifiable and transparent declarations.
Consultancy for Molino Paolo Mariani
Value Groovers has undertaken technical and scientific work aimed at evaluating two varieties of bread wheat. In particular, we carried out biochemical and genetic characterisation of the flours, analysing the total starch content, starch composition, gluten proteins and the genes responsible for kernel hardness.
Consultancy services for CURSA as part of the SilaBiometrics project
Specialist consultancy services aimed at quantifying and valuing carbon derived from sustainable forest management practices and innovative agricultural solutions, such as the use of biochar, in the Casali del Manco area, within the Sila National Park. Activities included the technical and scientific analysis of management processes, the assessment of CO₂ sequestration potential, and support in developing strategies aligned with environmental sustainability criteria. The project also involved the publication and dissemination of results as part of the activities planned under the SilaBiometrics project (CNR – NBFC, SPOKE 8, project ID NBFC), contributing to the promotion of replicable models of integrated carbon management in forestry and agricultural contexts.
Consultancy services for TÜV NORD on verification of the Biochar methodology
International consultancy services for the technical and scientific evaluation of a carbon credit generation project on the use of biochar in Germany. The assessment was carried out in accordance with local and international environmental regulations, using ISO 14064-2 standard.
UIF Surgelati
Through its collaboration with Unione Italiana Food, Value Groovers analysed the practical challenges associated with Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009 concerning plant protection products used on horticultural crops intended for the agri-food industry, with particular reference to the Italian frozen food sector. The project involved the collection and analysis of data on the gradual decline in the number of active substances and formulations available for crop protection. The technical and economic implications for farmers and processing companies have been examined. The study also explored the increase in biotic pressures and the constraints of the European regulatory framework. Using this evidence as a starting point, the project identified possible solutions and proposals to improve the regulatory framework, with the aim of supporting production stability within the supply chain and strengthening the overall competitiveness of domestic production.
Hazelnut Charter
The partnership with Barilla has made it possible to devise and test a set of private-sector rules based on co-creation and dialogue among stakeholders in the national hazelnut supply chain. Control procedures and methods have been shared and put into practice to ensure that sustainability commitments are concrete and transparent.
Over the years, we have supported farms, producer organisations and supply chain companies, providing training on process and management innovations that make it easier to verify stakeholders’ compliance and obtain the relevant certification, thereby putting the AgreeCert and NoMoreLosses solutions into practice.
Agrocamera
The collaboration with Agro Camera – Special Agency of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome involved the preparation of a technical study to assist with the Strategic Plan for the agri-food systems of the Metropolitan City of Rome.
The project involved the development of an in-depth analysis of the metropolitan agri-food system, using an integrated analysis of census data, Chamber of Commerce data and economic and financial data. We also carried out a survey of the market, accompanied by a process of consulting stakeholders from the main supply chains and areas of interest. The work made it possible to identify areas of need, critical issues and priorities for action, and to outline possible directions for development.
Participation in a PON project – Innovation in the timber supply chain
Value Groovers took part in the National Operational Programme (PON) project focused on innovation in the agro-forestry sector, through both theoretical and practical approaches. The study focused on the socio-economic impact of high-quality timber products made from 100% Italian raw materials, comparing their profitability with that of imported products. Using advanced technologies, we have provided strategic guidance to increase the competitiveness of domestic businesses, integrating economic sustainability and environmental protection into a world-class forestry supply chain.
Estimation and certification of carbon sequestration in afforestation projects
On behalf of 17tons, a leading carbon offset provider, Value Groovers estimated CO₂ sequestration in areas undergoing afforestation. The analysis, based on rigorous international scientific standards, ensured the validity and reliability of the generated credits, confirming the genuine impact of the afforestation projects.
Consultancy for international carbon farming projects
Specialist consulting services to assess CO₂ sequestration within the framework of the Carbon Farming initiative in Australia. Over the course of a two-week technical inspection, the team assessed the condition of the facilities and analysed sustainable natural resource management processes, ensuring compliance with local and international environmental regulations and sustainability criteria.
Landscape and the environment – carbon credits, biodiversity and environmental education
Value Groovers collaborated with a private client on a 4-hectare reforestation project aimed at generating carbon credits and enhancing biodiversity. The initiative involved selecting the most suitable tree species, estimating CO₂ sequestration over a 20–30 year period, and assessing the environmental co-benefits, whilst integrating economic and conservation objectives within the local area.
Agricultural commodities – UNIEAT moves forward with protocol for the Italian tomato processing supply chain
A socio-technical analysis of the dynamics of the Italian tomato processing supply chain, marked by a geographical divide between the north and the centre-south of the country. Value Groovers has developed solutions to boost collaboration between producers and processors, overcoming geographical divisions and promoting innovative tools for governance backed by inter-professional organisations to stabilise the sector.
Filafru Project – Wheat Supply Chain
As part of the FILAFRU Project, Value Groovers has collaborated on the development of innovative products made from highly digestible bread wheat flours, aimed at helping to prevent non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, obesity and bowel cancer. Value Groovers also implemented a blockchain-based traceability system, ensuring complete transparency from wheat cultivation to flour production, thereby safeguarding quality and consumer safety.
