Emanuele Blasi

Supply chains, relationships, policy and management

Prof. Emanuele Blasi is an expert in agricultural and agri-food economics and policy. With a degree in Agricultural Science and Technology and a doctorate in Economics and Regional Development, he is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Tuscia. His research centres on agri-food supply chains, the promotion of eco-innovation and regional development. He has published a number of scientific papers on topics relating to the sustainability of agricultural and rural systems, the development of business models within the agri-food supply chain, and analyses of the impact of agricultural policies and private initiatives on society. Twenty years’ experience in managing projects funded by national and international bodies, and in providing consultancy services for investment analysis and the evaluation of business plans.

Samuela Palombieri

Cereals fortified with fibre and micronutrients

Dr Samuela Palombieri, with a degree and doctorate in Plant Biotechnology, is a researcher at the University of Tuscia. Her work focuses on the genetic enhancement of wheat for improved nutritional value and resilience. She has contributed to national and international projects focusing on the traceability of cereal supply chains, the promotion of agricultural products and sustainability in the agri-food sector. The author of 27 scientific publications, she incorporates advanced techniques such as Assisted Evolution Techniques (AET), TILLING and molecular genotyping into her research to address the challenges of climate change and food security.

Francesco Sestili

Breeding and molecular traceability

Prof. Francesco Sestili, who holds a degree in Biological Sciences and a doctorate in Plant Biotechnology, is an Associate Professor of Agricultural Genetics at the University of Tuscia. He specialises in molecular traceability within the agri-food supply chain and the genetic improvement of wheat, working to enhance its nutritional value, quality and productivity. He contributed to the registration of the Faridur durum wheat variety and is co-holder of a patent on wheat mutants biofortified with essential minerals. He is the author of 86 scientific papers published in international peer-reviewed journals.

Tommaso Chiti

Soil, forests and climate change

Prof. Tommaso Chiti is an expert in soil, forests and climate change. With a degree in Forestry and Environmental Sciences and a doctorate in Soil Science and Climatology, he is currently an Associate Professor of Pedology at the University of Tuscia. He is involved in researching how sustainable land management practices influence the soil and contribute to national greenhouse gas inventories in the LULUCF sector. He also conducts research into carbon farming practices. He has published 50 scientific papers and has contributed to and coordinated several European projects, including LIFE and Horizon.

Lorenzo Fosci

Cultivation strategies and technical support

Dr Lorenzo Fosci, with a degree in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and a doctorate in Science, Technology and Biotechnology for Sustainability, has been working as an agricultural consultant since 2015. He collaborates with the DIBAF Department on projects relating to environmental and economic sustainability and is a leading expert in Rural Economics.

Angelo Martella

Quality Manager

Environmental evaluation and certification

Dr Angelo Martella, holder of a degree in Agroecology and a doctorate in Sciences, Technologies and Biotechnologies for Sustainability, is a member of the Viterbo Association of Agronomists and Foresters. Since 2020, he has been a Research Fellow at the University of Tuscia, where he focuses on agricultural sustainability using the Ecological Footprint methodology. He collaborates with a number of university consortia and companies, and is recognised as an expert in agri-food economics and marketing, as well as the Spanish language. He is also skilled in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for spatial and environmental analysis.

Andrea Anselmi

Dr Andrea Anselmi, a graduate of Agricultural Sciences from the University of Tuscia, obtained a Agrisystem PhD in Sustainable Plant and Food Protection from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Piacenza. His research focused on the development of Decision Support Systems (DSS) and predictive models for sustainable agricultural management.
